LED Light Therapy: What to Expect

Learn how LED light therapy fits into a facial, what the session feels like and what to tell your therapist before treatment.

LED light therapy is a non-invasive treatment step that uses selected wavelengths of visible light. At Manava Beauty, LED is included in several advanced facials and is also listed as a 15 minute add-on for eligible appointments. It is used as part of a considered facial plan, not as a replacement for consultation or professional medical care.

What happens during an LED session?

Your therapist first confirms the facial or add-on you booked and asks about relevant skin, health and medication considerations. This matters because some medications and conditions can increase sensitivity to light.

You will be positioned comfortably and given eye protection. The LED device is placed at the correct distance and the selected program runs for a set period. There are no needles and the device does not abrade the skin.

Most clients simply rest while the light is operating. The experience is quiet and hands-off compared with massage or product application.

What does LED feel like?

LED treatment is generally comfortable. You may notice brightness through the eye protection and a mild sense of warmth from the environment or equipment, but it should not feel painful.

Tell your therapist immediately if you feel uncomfortable. A beauty treatment is not something you need to endure in silence. Your therapist can pause the session and check what you are experiencing.

Which Manava facials include LED?

The current menu includes LED in these advanced facials:

  • Anti-Aging Enzyme Facial with LED
  • Vital C Antioxidant Facial with LED
  • Biome Restore Facial with LED
  • Be Clear Facial with LED

There is also an LED Light Therapy Add-On listed within the body and massage menu for eligible appointments.

The facial names describe the broader treatment, not just the light session. Products, cleansing, exfoliation and other hands-on steps vary between appointments. Compare the complete options on our LED light therapy page.

What can LED support?

Different wavelengths are used for different cosmetic treatment goals. Within a facial setting, LED may support skin comfort, a clearer-looking complexion and the appearance of fine lines.

Results and suitability vary. LED does not diagnose, treat or cure a medical condition. If you have persistent inflammation, a changing lesion, significant acne, rosacea or another health concern, speak with an appropriate medical professional.

Your therapist can discuss how the LED step fits within a beauty treatment, but that is different from medical advice.

Is there downtime?

LED itself has no planned recovery period because it does not remove or break the skin. However, your appointment may include exfoliating products, enzymes or other active skincare.

Follow the advice for the complete facial rather than assuming the LED step defines all aftercare. Your therapist may recommend gentle cleansing, moisturiser and sun protection based on what was used.

Who should tell the salon before booking?

Contact the salon before booking if you:

  • take medication that may increase sensitivity to light
  • experience seizures triggered by light
  • have a diagnosed light-sensitive condition
  • are under medical care for a skin concern
  • have recently had a procedure or strong peel
  • are unsure whether a health condition affects treatment

This list is not a medical screening tool. It is a reminder to share relevant information so the therapist can check suitability and refer you back to a medical professional when necessary.

Do you need a course of treatments?

Some clients choose regular LED appointments, while others experience it as part of an occasional facial. The right frequency depends on your goal, the broader treatment plan, your skin response, time and budget.

We do not recommend committing to a schedule before your first suitability check. Begin with the facial that fits your current priorities and discuss a realistic next step afterwards.

How should you prepare?

Arrive with a list of products and medications if you are unsure what may be relevant. Avoid concealing recent irritation, sunburn or a reaction because you are worried the appointment will be changed. That information helps your therapist make the safest choice.

If your facial has specific preparation instructions, follow those rather than relying on general internet advice. Read our facial preparation and aftercare guide for a sensible starting point.

How do you choose the right LED facial?

Choose according to the complete facial:

  • For a shorter enzyme and LED appointment, compare the 45 minute advanced options.
  • For a longer customised antioxidant treatment, consider the 75 minute Vital C option.
  • For dry, sensitive or compromised-looking skin, read the Biome Restore description.
  • For congestion and breakouts, compare the Be Clear facial.

If the names still feel confusing, call Manava Beauty before booking. Natalie or Paigh can help you choose without expecting you to understand the entire professional menu first.
